CLIENT:

H I G H - E N D   F A S H I O N   J E W E L R Y

Case Study No.3

The client is a high growth fashion jewelry brand that distributes its products via its own retail specialty stores as well as high luster specialty retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and other select stores.  After a humble beginning in the Founder’s dining room, the client has grown to become an incredibly successful fashion accessory brand in a highly competitive environment.

THE ASSIGNMENT:

IDENTIFY & RECRUIT TALENT
[ for a rapidly growing entrepreneurial brand ]

Head of Marketing
Head of Distribution
Head of Store Development & Construction

CONTEXT & CHALLENGES:

Currently, the client has almost 50 stores of its own and has plans to continue its national expansion consistent with consumer demands.  Recently, a major venture capital firm invested substantially in the business, supporting the Company’s growth plan.

  • Beyond the strength of the Company’s product offering, the success of the business is truly driven by the CULTURE of the organization, which is focused on Fashion, Family and Philanthropy.
  • As with so many high-growth entrepreneurial companies, growth consistently exceeded expectation over its years; therefore, keeping pace placed significant stress on the Company’s infrastructure and resources.
  • Recognizing the need to expand their resources, identifying and recruiting“best of class” talent to the organization, the Client and the COO set about identifying a recruiting partner that would understand and embrace the vision and the values of the Company.

RESULTS:

  • In 2013, the search began to identify and recruit not just the best and brightest, but also the best fit for the Company.
  • Since joining the team as a key partner in their talent sourcing, we’ve worked closely together to strengthen the leadership team, including the head of marketing, head of distribution/operations, and head of store design & development with top tier talent from Pepsi, Tory Burch and Michael Kors.
  • Perhaps my favorite story is when I tell clients “yes, we replaced the client’s mother in the warehouse with the Head of Distribution from Tory Burch."
  • My second favorite story came when the Head of Store Design & Development called to tell me,  “you have genuinely changed my life.”
  • This client is a real example of this next generation of leaders who strive for “conscientious commerce” and an example of what the power of partnership can look like in the client/search association.
